Project Overview

Plus Power is developing a 150 MW / 600 MWh state-of-the-art battery storage system that will provide fast-ramping, reliable capacity to Georgia Power during peak demand when it comes online in 2027. The facility’s position near high electricity demand in Atlanta, and flexibility to perform grid balancing services to support grid reliability, makes the facility especially beneficial to Georgia Power and Polk County. Aragon is seeking permit approval from the Polk County Board of Commissioners. Construction of the Aragon Energy Storage facility is anticipated to start in 2026 for an online date in 2027.

The Aragon Energy Storage project will make the community’s electrical grid more reliable, increase the community tax base, and offer high-paying construction jobs. Modernizing the grid to improve resilience in turn improves quality of life and regional economic development, enhancing prosperity for the community and Northern Georgia. Situated near existing electrical infrastructure, outside flood plains, and with no impact to wetlands or forests, the Aragon project site is an optimal location for new energy infrastructure.
